Congratulations to Stella and Peyton... our two St. Christopher youth who were part of the three State of Georgia Greek Orthodox Youth representing their parishes at the Metropolis St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival on Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Clearwater, Florida.
Stella and Peyton spoke with confidence and poise after having advanced from the district festival in April. Their presentations reflected careful research of their topics and having presented at the parish, district, and now metropolis levels, they have embraced their calling to serve as "witnesses" or "defenders of the faith of Christ", who demonstrated they are not afraid to profess publicly their religious beliefs in our Risen Lord.
Congratulations to their parents who supported them, and to Katie Wilson, Religious Education Chair and Charles Costas, who with Katie teach them Religious Education.
Stella presented in person and Peyton offered his presentation by livestreaming video (his photo could not be captured well since he was offsite). Fr. George commends all the speakers and their supportive families and teachers.
Finally, we thank Stella and Peyton for bringing attention to our St. Christopher Church here in Peachtree City, Georgia. Only one other of our youth has progressed to the Metropolis level. Observers reported to Fr. George that Stella and Peyton were great witnesses. In turn, Fr. George thanks them for ensuring our parish not only supports the Oratorical Festival but is one of only two Greek Orthodox parishes in Atlanta and the entire state of Georgia who took time to participate this year. Thanks be to God. As a parish family, we commend them!
