Over the past week, we have watched as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has begun to show itself across the United States. Even here in Georgia, there are verified cases, with undoubtedly more to come.
Last Friday, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros issued an Encyclical speaking about this outbreak, as well as Guidelines for clergy to follow to keep our parishes safe. You can read both documents through the links at the bottom of this note, but first please keep reading.
Our Saint Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church is in the midst of implementing all of the Guidelines that have been published by the Archdiocese and will continue to take measures to ensure that our house of worship is a safe and healthy environment.
There are two very important things that I want to reiterate to each of you and your families.
Welcome to the first Saint Christopher Weekly Newsletter, The Saint Christopher Weekly! This new weekly format will enable our ministry leaders to report more frequently as needed without special communications. They may also choose to continue reporting monthly as our Treasurers Tammy Soulakos and George Psihountas will do on the third week of each month. An additional benefit of this new format will be fewer e-mails overall. All pertinent information for the week for Saint Christopher HOC will be included in this weekly communication. This is an evolving communications tool for our community, so please share any thoughts or suggestions with Father George or a Parish Council member.
Faithfully, Stephen Sarantis Parish Council President
First Weekend of Great Lent Fr. George Tsahakis and parishioners at Saint Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church celebrated the third Saturday of the Souls on March 7. After church services, parishioners cleaned the church. On Sunday, March 8, faithful parishioners processed with their icons during the Sunday of Orthodoxy commemoration. That evening Atlanta Orthodox Clergy joined together for Pan-Orthodox Vespers at Atlanta Annunciation Cathedral. View Video
