Congratulations to our senior and junior speakers featured below. I am very proud of all of the 28 speakers (one could not attend at the last minute). Thanks to Fr. Chrysostom, Dr. Bellas, Karen and parishioners of St. Catherine Church tor hosting this extraordinary event.
I especially commend the young man pictured below with his father. He converted to Orthodoxy one year ago, yet finished FIRST among our senior speakers at our Metropolis Festival today. Earlier, he was first at his St. Nicholas, Raphael & Irene Parish Oratorical Festival in Cumming, GA, and likewise first at our Central District Festival at St. Christopher Church in Peachtree City, GA.
He memorized his five-minute presentation and it was well-thought out and supported with Scripture and patristic references. He witnessed the love and mercy offered by our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in response to the transgression of Adam and Eve… in a calm and confident tone that captured our spirits much like the fisherman’s net our Lord used to call His first Disciples to “come and see”!
We wish him good strength and success at the Archdiocese Oratorical Festival in Buffalo, June 7-9, along with our Junior Speaker finalist (Sorry, I didn’t have a photo to share.)
