Date: Time: Sunday, August 18th, when St. Christopher families celebrate Godparents Sunday alongside their Godchildren at our Blessing of the New Religious Education Year
What is Godparents Sunday? Godparents Sunday is a cherished tradition. It’s a day to honor the spiritual bond between Godparents and Godchildren. We invite all Godparents and their Godchildren (of any age) to come together for a meaningful celebration.
Godparents assist in the spiritual development of the child.
They become part of the child’s “spiritual family.”
They can foster the relationship through prayer and communication.
They pray for their Godchildren and encourage them to pray for them.
Godparents celebrate the baptism anniversary with a card or call.
They learn about the child’s patron saint and share stories with their Godchildren.
Godparents model the Orthodox faith through actions and thoughtful gifts.
Highlights of Godparents Sunday:
Attend the Divine Liturgy together
Strengthen their spiritual connections
Remind ourselves of the blessed bonds we share as “spiritual family”
Receive the Blessing of the Waters (Agiasmos) together
Share cherished stories and memories reminding us of God’s love and joy
Mark Your Calendar! Invite your Godchild(ren) and Godparent(s) to join you on this special Sunday. Let’s celebrate our faith, love, and family ties together.
