Today, October 28th, I learned that a dear friend fell asleep in the Lord, God’s servant, Georgia Tassopoulos. Her funeral is scheduled for this Saturday at the Annunciation Cathedral, 2480 Clairmont, Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 at 11:00 a.m. His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios will officiate. (See email announcement below regarding her funeral plans.)
Through God’s grace, we scheduled our Divine Liturgy for our Archbishop’s Name Day (St. Elpidophoros) this Saturday at 7:45 a.m., enabling my presence at Georgia’s funeral in Atlanta. Following the liturgy, I remind our parishioners to volunteer to help our Philoptochos Society make Baklava for our Fall Pastry Sale.
For the rest of us, I invite you to join me for Georgia’s funeral at the Cathedral this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. While you may not have known Georgia, I want to share that her son, Tim is a friend and generous supporter of our St. Christopher Church. Joining him with his family and friends is a wonderful act of mercy that we can offer in support and tribute to his beloved mother. I am reaching out to you tonight to let you know of this opportunity to provide comfort and strength for someone who faithfully has assisted us. His service to his company and so many charitable organizations is an inspiration for us to follow his example and offer our love and condolences in these difficult days for him and his family.
May the memory of Georgia be eternal. May God provide strength and peace to her family as they adjust to life without her love and guidance. On behalf of our parish family, I extend deepest condolences to Tim and his precious family. Thanks be to God for bringing us together in these difficult times… let us offer glory and thanksgiving to Him today, and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
